    BBC Radio 1 Dance announces The Official Radio 1 Dance Chart and updates to daytime line-up – Electric Mode


    BBC Radio 1 Dance has today announced the launch of The Official Radio 1 Dance Chart hosted by Arielle Free, alongside new daytime shows featuring Charlie Tee and Matty Chiabi.

    From Monday 20 April, Radio 1 Dance will launchThe Official Radio 1 Dance Chart, a brand-new weekly show (11:30am–12pm) hosted by Arielle Free. A regular voice on Radio 1 Dance, Arielle currently presents Radio 1 Dance Morning, as well as Radio 1’s Rave Up Show on Radio 1. The show will count down the UK’s Top 20 biggest dance tracks of the week, as compiled by the Official Charts Company based on sales and streams across the UK.

    Charlie Tee will also join the Radio 1 Dance daytime line-up, hostingRadio 1 Dance Party Starters(Saturday–Thursday, 3–4pm). Already a familiar voice to Radio 1 listeners, hosting Radio 1’s Drum & Bass Show, Charlie will bring her passion for dance music and club culture to audiences across the UK. Her first show will be on Monday 1 June.

    Meanwhile, Matty Chiabi will join Radio 1 Dance to host theRadio 1 Dance Playlistshow (daily, 6am–9am and 12pm–3pm), taking over from Connor Coates, who will remain part of the Radio 1 Dance family. Matty previously appeared as part of Radio 1’s Christmas Presenter Takeover in 2021 and went on to host Friday Early Breakfast on Radio 1 before joining Capital Dance, where she hosted the afternoon show. She is also a member of DJ collective Girls Don’t Sync. Matty’s first show will be on Monday 20 April.

    Aled Haydn Jones,Head of BBC Radio 1, says: “Radio 1 Dance continues to go from strength to strength and these changes mark an exciting next step for the station. With the launch of The Official Radio 1 Dance Chart and a daytime schedule fronted by an all-female line-up, I’m proud to keep bringing the very best dance music to our listeners.”
