    Clover County

If you’re not subscribing to our monthly supporters newsletter you’ll be missing out on our exclusive supporters playlist of the best new americana we’ve heard over the last month which this month includes new tracks by The Milk Carton Kids, Elaine Palmer, Old Crow Medicine Show, Jim Lauderdale and Waxhatchee among others – as always we trawl through the best Americana we’ve heard recently so you don’t have to. For this month’s supporters giveaway we have a pair of tickets to see emerging Georgia singer/songwriter Clover County live – she makes her UK and Ireland live debut next week playing a joint headline tour with Jack Van Cleaf from May 6th to May 12th and has a spot on Highways Festival at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 16th. Tickets are available from this link – you can find all the dates below.

Clover County’sdebut albumFiner Thingswas released to critical acclaim last September via her own label Undercover Lover Records in partnership with Thirty Tigers. Produced by Carrie K(Noah Kahan, Maggie Antone, Koe Wetzel), the album is a coming-of-age soundtrack that explores romantic, familial and platonic love with a winking charm and an observing eye. Clover shared:“Finer Things is the shoebox I keep under my bed full of old love letters and trinkets I can’t quite let go of. Its polaroids, bottle caps, and plane tickets. It’s a memorial for all the ways I’ve loved and been loved.

These songs began when I was 18—scrawled in notebooks, half-sung into voice memos, carried with me through the years. I started recording them at 23, and at 24, they’ll start to find their place in the world. Unintentionally, they trace a timeline: from naive to knowing. Finer Things is about all the ways I’ve shown up in love and how it’s shown up for me, the fleeting and the forever. Romantic, familial, platonic. The sweetness, the sting, and the spaces in between.

This record lives naturally within the lines of country with its own indie/alternative twists— as a songwriter from the south with a love for the classics I wanted to nod to legacy artists like Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, and Sheryl Crow, while also drawing from the modern textures and tones of Hovvdy, Adrienne Lenker, Waxahatchee, Courtney Barnett, and MJ Lenderman.”

Which sounds good to us. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. You can become an AUK supporter for as little as £2.99 a month for which princely sum you will receive a monthly exclusive supporters playlist along with being entered into our monthly prize draw. We all give our time freely to bring this site to you each day so thanks for your support if you can help out.
