    Candice Hoyes Announces Debut Solo Album Expecting With Pink Clouds

    Candice Hoyes Announces Debut Solo Album Expecting With Pink Clouds


    Award-winning interdisciplinary musician and vocalist Candice Hoyes announces her debut solo album Expecting, arriving August 28 via LaReserve Records, alongside new single Pink Clouds.

    The track moves between jazz, soul, classical detail, and modern art-song atmosphere, pairing funk-touched rhythms and playful instrumentation with Hoyes’ clear, unaffected vocal.

    Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Simone Holland, the video extends that world into surreal, quietly cinematic visual space.

    Hoyes explains:

    Writing this album was like painting a story for one listener at a time, constantly mixing new colors. I chose to illuminate active compassion in response to everyday cruelty and to radiate this intention as the throughline of the album.

    That intention sits at the centre of Pink Clouds, a song about an ethereal love too restless for gravity, moving through softness, heartbreak, and emotional suspension.

    Expecting marks Hoyes’ first full-length solo venture, following work across orchestral performance, jazz, contemporary composition, visual art, and scholarship. Her credits include Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, Wynton Marsalis, Philip Glass, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Moor Mother, and Chaka Khan.

    With Expecting, Hoyes brings that world into solo focus. Voice, arrangement, image, and intention move as one, with Pink Clouds as the elegant entry point.
