Sonedo ft: Psweatpants – Groove (Single)

Japanese Scottish producer, pianist and bandleader Sonedo returns with “Groove” feat. Psweatpants, the second single from his upcoming debut album From Here On Out, landing May 22 via Rebecca’s Records.

Leaning into crisp breakbeats and a loose, funk driven pulse, “Groove” feels like Sonedo at his most direct. South London born, Glasgow based rapper Psweatpants rides the rhythm with an effortless, high energy delivery that channels the playful charisma of Anderson .Paak. It’s a track that thrives on movement, built for both the dancefloor and the live room.

Fresh from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Sonedo has quickly carved out a name as a collaborative force within the UK jazz underground. His work, often blending improvisation with rap, grime and club textures, has already picked up support from tastemakers like Jamz Supernova and Gilles Peterson, alongside releases with label head Rebecca Vasmant.

Following the momentum of previous single “Tailor Made,” “Groove” hints at the more playful, rhythm forward side of the forthcoming LP. From Here On Out promises a genre blurring journey across ten tracks, featuring a wide cast of collaborators and showcasing Sonedo’s instinct for merging intricate piano work with breakbeat energy and contemporary UK sounds.

Originally from Osaka and now rooted in Glasgow, Sonedo is part of a new wave reshaping what UK jazz can be, fluid, collaborative, and unafraid to meet the club head on.
