The Moshville Times – Daniel Tompkins and Paul Ortiz announce Prince of Failure project and debut album

Progressive metal stalwarts Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT) and Paul Ortiz (Chimp Spanner) have officially unveiled their long-term creative partnership, Prince of Failure. The duo will release their self-titled debut album on June 19th via Kscope.

Written over several years, Prince of Failure represents a deep departure from the pair’s previous work, focusing on themes of neurodivergence, social masking, and the internal struggle for self-alignment. Musically, the record blends Ortiz’s spacious electronic textures and powerful guitar work with Tompkins’ intimate, close-mic vocal delivery.

The duo has also shared the album’s lead single, “Horizon,” featuring guest vocals from Kristyn Hope (Daedric). Tompkins describes the track as capturing a moment of collapse and the beginning of a transformation, with Hope’s voice serving as a “guiding presence” through the sonic chaos.

The accompanying music video for “Horizon” was produced by Michael Levine using Unreal Engine, featuring additional FX work from Richard Oakes.

    Prince of Failure Tracklist:

    1. The Glass Veil
    2. Dream Stealer
    3. Moonlight
    4. Phantom
    5. Fragile Crown
    6. Saturn’s Shadow
    7. Silent Throne
    8. Horizon (feat. Kristyn Hope)
    9. Palace of Echoes
    10. Prince of Failure
    11. Heartless
    12. Jaded Mantra
