Kenosha, Wisconsin’s punitive death metal veterans Jungle Rot have digitally released their twelfth full-length album, Cruel Face Of War, via Unique Leader Records. While the physical street date for CD and vinyl is set for 15th May, fans can stream the record in its entirety now. Produced by Chris Djuricic and mixed by the legendary Dan Swanö, the album continues the band’s 30-year tradition of efficient, execution-focused old-school death metal.
Known for their “stomp” melodies and a refusal to sacrifice groove for over-technicality, the quartet delivers twelve tracks of pure carnage. The album features a guest appearance from David Ingram (Benediction) on “Horrors Vile” and includes previously released singles “Apocalyptic Dawn” and “Maniacal.” Frontman Dave Matrise described the milestone as an “amazing accomplishment,” promising an album full of crushing grooves and violent hooks that “will surely break anyone’s neck.”
The band is set to embark on the “Back to the Old School Tour” across Europe this summer, hitting major festivals including Pitfest, Obscene Extreme, and Alcatraz. We’ve been following their “chugging, groove-fuelled” journey for years, previously praising their self-titled effort for its refusal to change a winning, thrash-infused formula.
Cruel Face Of War is available now on all digital platforms, with physical pre-orders shipping this week.
Fans of riff-heavy assaults should also catch the debut full-length from Seattle’s Telomyras.
