DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Kwasi feat. Nathan Wong – Room Full Of Broken Hearts

Kwasi Nathan Wong Room Full Of Broken HeartsIn this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we would like to introduce you to upcoming artist Kwasi and his brand new single titled “Room Full Of Broken Hearts” featuring Nathan Wong.

Melbourne/Naarm artist Kwasi enters a more vulnerable chapter with his new single “Room Full Of Broken Hearts”, featuring Nathan Wong, out now. Blending hip-hop, punk, trap and emotionally charged alternative sounds, the track captures the tension of wanting connection while simultaneously wrestling with identity, insecurity and the instinct to run away.

“Room Full Of Broken Hearts” arrives as the latest glimpse into Outstanding MISFIT, Kwasi’s forthcoming debut album, due October 16. Across fourteen tracks, the project follows the story of an underdog and his ‘MISFIT’ alter-ego, exploring alienation, belonging, acceptance and the complicated process of embracing every part of yourself.

For the new single, Kwasi steps away from some of the abrasive intensity that has become central to his sound and instead leans into vulnerability. Melancholic guitar and live drums establish an emotionally charged backdrop, while Kwasi’s gruff vocal delivery contrasts with Nathan Wong’s emo-infused chorus. Together, the two create a compelling push and pull between openness and restraint, perfectly reflecting the internal conflict at the heart of the song.

The result is a track that feels both energetic and emotionally exposed. Kwasi’s familiar hip-hop and punk influences remain firmly present, but “Room Full Of Broken Hearts” gives them a different purpose. Rather than simply charging forward, the song pauses to confront the uncertainty that comes with opening yourself up to another person.

That ability to move between genres and emotions has become a defining feature of Kwasi’s growing catalogue. His previous releases “Troublemaker”, “Ready To Go” and “POISON” have received airplay on Triple J, while “Motions” was added to Apple Music’s New in Hip-Hop and “Gold On Her Tongue” landed on Apple Music’s Aussie Hip-Hop. His music has also earned praise from across the Australian music landscape.

CLASH described Kwasi’s “LIT!” as “a bold moment of experimentation,” while AAA Backstage praised the artist’s fearless energy. Triple J’s Declan Byrne highlighted how “emotions, grit and late night confessions” collide in Kwasi’s music, while Anika Luna described him as “charged up” and someone who “packs a punch.”

Kwasi has also shared stages and collaborated with artists including *Genesis Owusu, Illy and 360, further establishing himself as an artist willing to challenge the boundaries between hip-hop, punk and alternative music.

At the centre of Outstanding MISFIT is a deeply personal idea. Kwasi explains that the album is “the story of an underdog and the rise of an anti-hero”, inspired by his own experience of feeling caught between different worlds. Instead of choosing where he belongs, the project explores the possibility of embracing all those identities at once.

“Room Full Of Broken Hearts” is an important piece of that story. Its mixture of melancholic instrumentation, powerful vocals and genre-bending production provides another window into the world Kwasi is building around Outstanding MISFIT.

The album arrives October 16th, but the story will continue beyond the music itself. On Halloween, Saturday, October 31st, Kwasi will bring Outstanding MISFIT to life with KWASI PRESENTS: THE SCORE — OUTSTANDING MISFIT at Village Cinemas Rivoli in Melbourne. The immersive live cinema experience will combine an original short film with live performances from Kwasi and his band, creating one continuous narrative between screen and stage.

With “Room Full Of Broken Hearts”, Kwasi demonstrates that being a misfit can mean more than standing outside the crowd. Sometimes, it means refusing to choose between the different parts of yourself. And with Outstanding MISFIT on the horizon, Kwasi is turning that conflict into the foundation of his most ambitious chapter yet.
