Spanish Love Songs announce new album, Future Nausea, and drop furious single, Good American

Spanish Love Songs are officially back, with a new album titled Future Nausea on the way as well as the single, Good American.

Future Nausea, which follows up 2023’s No Joy, is the band’s fourth album. It’ll arrive on November 6 via Pure Noise.

“Good American is inspired by the vets I’d deliver pizzas to at the VA hospital at the height of the War on Terror.” says singer Dylan Slocum. “Seeing what Trans soldiers have been going through with the recent bans unlocked stories I heard twenty years ago from guys living on the streets, and the song grew from there.

“It’s always the same story. A story of what happens when the institution that preyed on your economic instability and desperation under the guise of patriotism and belonging turns its back on you. A story of surviving in the very margins you’d hoped to escape.

“It’s an angry song. Maybe the angriest song I’ve ever written. The recording of it followed accordingly. We kept it minimal. Loud. It sets the tone for the album and this era of the band. We want people dancing and shouting like they’re at a packed out basement show.”

On the album, he adds: “When I first sat down to work on the record, I basically told everybody I just wanted to make a big rock record, whatever our version of something like Born in the U.S.A. would feel like if it could exist. But as much as I wanted to make a major-key-sounding album, I wanted it to be as angry politically as it could be. More angry than sad. I actually think this is the least sad record we’ve ever made.”
