DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: B Soulo – DURAGS THE SUN

In this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we would like to introduce you to upcoming artist B Soulo and his brand new album titledDURAGS THE SUN.

A rebrand can be more than a change of name. For Chicago lyricist B Soulo, the transition from Blac Kami to B Soulo represents a deeper return to the sound, identity, and perspective that have always been within him. His new album, DURAGS THE SUN, is the official pivot into that world, a soulful Hip-Hop project shaped by honesty, reflection, cultural memory, and an unmistakable love for lyricism.

From the opening moments of “WAY TOO LONG,” there is an immediate sense of release. The track feels reflective without becoming heavy, setting the emotional tone for a project that constantly looks inward while keeping its head up. “GARDEN” continues that feeling, bringing a more peaceful, almost meditative atmosphere that makes the listener feel like they are watching something grow from difficult circumstances.

“GET 2 KNO ME” is where B Soulo’s artistic identity comes sharply into focus. Inspired by the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, and Common, the song balances poetry and raw Hip-Hop energy. The first verse feels carefully written and introspective, while the second brings a harder edge and a more aggressive delivery. It is a perfect introduction to the different sides of B Soulo, showing that his soulful approach never means sacrificing intensity.

“ROY” and “PRESSURE” push deeper into the album’s emotional core. There is vulnerability beneath the confident delivery, with B Soulo capturing the feeling of carrying expectations while still trying to understand yourself. “YOU & ME” shifts the mood again, bringing a warmer, more intimate energy that feels personal without becoming overly sentimental.

One of the album’s strengths is how naturally it moves between different emotional spaces. “KNOW THAT” feels assured and uplifting, while “THE LANGUAGE,” featuring T.E.E, emphasizes the importance of connection and communication. “CRUISE CONTROL” provides a smoother moment of escape, almost like a late-night drive where the outside world temporarily disappears.

As the album reaches “HOLY GHOST” and “GOD LUV U,” spirituality and introspection become increasingly important. These songs carry a sense of searching and belief, giving DURAGS THE SUN an emotional depth that extends beyond traditional Hip-Hop themes. By the time “STILL DREAMIN” closes the project, the feeling is one of persistence. Despite everything, the dreams remain.

With DURAGS THE SUN, B Soulo has created a project that feels genuine from beginning to end. Jazz influence, Neo Soul warmth, Chicago’s musical heritage, and thoughtful Hip-Hop storytelling all come together without feeling forced. Most importantly, the album feels like an artist introducing listeners to who he really is.

This is not simply a rebrand. It is B Soulo stepping fully into his sound, his story, and his own light.
