Ari Abdul Turns Jealousy and Self-Sabotage Into Industrial Alt-Pop Single Ego

Ari Abdul Turns Jealousy and Self-Sabotage Into Industrial Alt-Pop Single Ego

Brooklyn-born artist Ari Abdul returns with Ego, a propulsive new single that pushes her dark alt-pop language into heavier industrial and rock-edged territory.

Released via Slumbo Labs/RCA Records, the track pulls distorted production, driving momentum, and Abdul’s hypnotic vocal tone into a tight pressure system. The sound is visceral without losing control: hard edges, shadowy atmosphere, and a hook built to sit under the skin.

At its core, Ego sits inside the ugly emotional mechanics of watching someone move on. The pain is not only love. It is pride, jealousy, resentment, and the quiet violence of feeling replaced.

    Ari explains:

‘Ego’ is about self-sabotage and knowing you should just let go of something you can’t change while struggling to silence the jealous voice in your head. You destroy yourself trying to understand why it hurts and trying to justify why you feel the way you do. The whole song is rooted in jealousy and difficult human emotion. Your ego will always try to make sense of it all, even though it doesn’t need to.

That tension drives the record. Abdul does not soften the feeling or dress it up as clean heartbreak. She lets the ego spiral run loud, turning emotional damage into a darker, more physical release.

Since breaking through with BABYDOLL, now past 800 million global streams, Ari Abdul has built a lane between shoegaze distortion, alt-pop intimacy, and nocturnal vocal control. Following CCTV, major collaborations, sold-out tour moments, and support runs with Isabel LaRosa and Nessa Barrett, Ego sharpens the next phase.

The track lands like a system overload: jealousy as signal, pride as distortion, and Ari Abdul sounding fully locked into the chaos.
