DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Dion Isaiah – CHANGING

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Dion Isaiah – CHANGINGIn this new entry in our ‘Diamonds In The Rough’ category, we would like to introduce you to upcoming artist Dion Isaiah and his brand new single titled “CHANGING”.

South Carolina-born, Norway-based singer, songwriter and producer Dion Isaiah returns with his new single “CHANGING,” an atmospheric Alternative R&B and synth-pop track that explores one of the most complicated parts of personal growth: realising that you are becoming someone different and wondering what that transformation might mean for the person beside you.

Vulnerable, introspective and hypnotic, “CHANGING” captures the emotional tension that comes with evolving. Dion balances the fear of what change might bring with the quiet understanding that growth often requires stepping into a new version of yourself. Airy production and soulful vocals create an intimate atmosphere, allowing the uncertainty at the heart of the song to remain front and centre.

Interestingly, the journey behind “CHANGING” mirrors its message almost perfectly.

The song originally came together at a songwriting camp in Kristiansand, Norway, where Dion wrote it with another artist in mind. When it became clear that the track was not the right fit for that artist, “CHANGING” was put aside. It remained unreleased for around two and a half years.

While going back through his unreleased material and considering where he wanted to take his music next, Dion rediscovered the song. This time, however, he heard something different in it. What had once been written for someone else suddenly felt like a reflection of his own artistic journey.

Dion approached the group he had written the song with about stepping forward as the main artist and making the record his own. With his producer in Spain, he completed the production and reshaped the track around his voice, perspective and creative direction. A song that had spent years waiting for the right moment ultimately became deeply personal.

In that sense, “CHANGING” had to change too.

The release also highlights the versatility that has become central to Dion Isaiah’s artistry. Rather than confining himself to a single genre, Dion treats different sounds as part of a broader musical palette. His previous release, “New Day,” explored an uplifting combination of Afropop, dance-pop and electronic production. “CHANGING” takes a more introspective route, replacing the outward energy of that track with atmospheric textures, emotional vulnerability and a sense of quiet reflection.

Dion’s sound is shaped by influences from both sides of the Atlantic. With an airy yet soulful vocal style and a background in classical voice and piano, he combines R&B storytelling with Afrobeats-inspired rhythms, electronic textures, pop melodies and contemporary production. Artists such as ZAYN, The Weeknd, Burna Boy and Fireboy DML form part of his musical influence, but Dion’s own work continues to move freely between styles.

That approach has already connected with listeners around the world. His independent catalogue has surpassed *3 million streams, with both “Get Back To You” and “Chasing Moments” passing 500,000 Spotify streams. “Get Back To You” also earned Dion a place on Norwegian national radio through NRK P3, marking an important milestone in his development. Meanwhile, his electronic release “Inside My Mind” reached another notable moment when its club mix was downloaded by internationally recognised DJ and producer Don Diablo.

With “CHANGING,” Dion Isaiah adds another dimension to that growing catalogue. It is a song about uncertainty, identity and the uncomfortable space between who you were and who you are becoming. More importantly, its own evolution from an unfinished songwriting-camp track into a deeply personal release makes its message feel all the more authentic.

Sometimes, change is not something you plan. Sometimes, you simply return to something you left behind and realise that you are finally ready to make it your own.

For Dion Isaiah, “CHANGING” is exactly that moment.
